Houston Center for Photography is an educational and cultural organization that deepens the understanding and appreciation of the photographic arts.Through exhibitions, publications, and educational programming, the Center supports emerging and mid-career artists and their audiences. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, and promotes the study of photography, both as a medium of expression and as a tool of cultural investigation. HCP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving as a resource to its members and the community with programs that have regional and national impact.HCP fosters a wide diversity of work, ranging from art and documentary photography to photographic installations, film and video. Innovative work is emphasized through the presentation of thoughtful, informative programs. HCP is also devoted to discovering and fostering the work of artists who deal with cross-cultural issues. We consider publications and educational programs an integral part of our critical presentation of developments in photography and related arts.Gallery Hours: 11-6 Wednesday - Friday 12-5 Saturday & Sunday or by appointment Admission to HCP is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated.
