SugarHill Recording Studios is regarded as the oldest continuously operating facility in the Southwest United States—recording the sounds of the Gulf Coast for the past 65 years and the sounds of current and future legends.

SugarHill hosted many legendary artists, including Lightnin Hopkins who first recorded here in 1948. The 1950s rock ˜n roll classic Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper and Freddy Fender platinum-selling album Before The Next Teardrop Falls were both recorded here. The Rolling Stones, George Jones, Todd Rundgren, The Bubble Puppy, Selena, Janis Joplin, Roy Head, Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, Red Krayola and the 13th Floor Elevators are just a few names out of the SugarHill history book. AustraliaThe Hitmen D.T.K. and Deniz Tek of the legendary Radio Birdman have also passed SugarHills doors.

Due to SugarHills eminence in music history, SugarHill has evolved through the years to become more than your typical recording facility. SugarHill is a prominent advocate for musicians, supporting the Houston music community. SugarHill Recording Studios is renowned for its sponsorships and donations and is the only studio that helps expose young local talent through various radio, online campaigns and events including:

The SugarHill Sessions

By creating the Tape Vault section, SugarHill allows artists who have recorded here to place a bio, picture and audio clips of their songs, which allows musicians to share their work with the industry.
