Cool after work tavern with $2 beer, no liquor, and a sweet deck. Do you work or live in the Heights? Go on and give the Shady Tavern a try.

I am the newest bartender/ member of the Shady family, so forgive me while I shamelessly use this outlet for a moment. I have been a customer for over two years because I got a dog and found this great dog friendly venue right away. I stuck around because of the beers, the people, and most recently the free wi-fi. This place rocks and I’m proud to be a part of the team now. BTW…Shady’s 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off is coming up on October 13th!! $5 for a bottomless chili bowl and a vote to your favorite team! They need to get the Old Juke Box back. It was part of what made Shady such a cool place. Now it costs $1 to play a song and there isn’t any of the good Texas country that was on the old Juke Box. (I would pay a $1 to here that music) (2007-07-03 23:41:17) |

Nicest folks work and play here. Everyone is really super-friendly, and make all who visit feel like long-time friends. Can’t say enough good things about the place… (2007-03-18 13:15:11) |

Est. 1939, The Shady Tavern is a true Texas Ice House. There is no place in Houston I’d rather pass a few hours then in their big shaded back yard or right next to the bar. They serve some of the coldest beer in town and have the best selection of Texas and Americana music on their jukebox. It is a hidden treasure for sure. (2007-01-18 16:36:41) |
