“A well-kept pub that manages to be lively without being rowdy. The Mucky Duck has great live music most nights, mixing singer-songwriters from the U.S. with folk music from around the world, including Ireland, and there’s an open mike night each Wednesday.” - USA TODAY TRAVEL GUIDE
“The pub could be in Dublin or Belfast, where Irish folk musicians have passed down traditional tunes from generation to generation. Or it could be in New York or Boston, where tight Irish-American communities have kept a bond with old-country culture. But it’s not. It’s right here in Houston’s Upper Kirby district.” -RICK MITCHELL, HOUSTON CHRONICLE

Since the seating is reserved (at tables) it is a very civilized and mellow way to see live music. Everyone is in a good mood and there is not a bad seat in the house. The place has nice lighting and perfect acoustics to see live music. It is also smoke-free. You can purchase your tickets as far in advance as you like, in cash or check at the Mucky Duck, or you can mail it in. Go by and have lunch while you’re at it! The food is really very good. Not your typical bar food by any means. The waitresses are all wonderful and the people that greet you at the door are very friendly. It’s obvious that they love music and care about their customers too. Most importantly, the artists they book are the best! I love this place! (2007-08-29 12:22:18) |

Extremely good! Nice drinks and delicious chocolate mousse… nice crowd, too. I’ve gone to some concerts there. They were absolutely fabulous, I even got to talk to the artists afterward. Definitely a nice place to spend a night. (2006-05-28 12:44:08) |
